Garage Door Warranty for Springs

clopay-header-2

Garage door springs do a lot of heavy lifting, so a reliable, long-term warranty can help protect you from unexpected repair costs. Ingstrup Garage Doors provides clear, comprehensive coverage for you with different levels of protection for your springs.

This guide offers clarity on your garage door spring warranty so you can eliminate future worries and ensure you’re covered when you need it most.

Why Your Garage Door Springs Matter

Garage door springs use tension to counterbalance hundreds of pounds of weight. This balance is key. It ensures the door operates safely and protects your opener from burning out, which results in a costly garage door repair.

Every spring is rated for a set number of cycles, which is one open and one close. After thousands of cycles, the constant stress of metal fatigue will cause the spring to break. This fatigue is why our warranty coverage is so important. It protects you from the most common point of failure in any garage door system.

30 Years Of Experience

Find Your Perfect Level of Protection

We offer various levels of garage door spring warranties, including:

  • Two-year warranty: Provides standard coverage for garage door springs rated for 10,000 cycles, ideal for low-usage doors.

  • Five-year warranty: Offers extended protection for springs rated for 18,000 cycles, suited for families with typical daily use.

  • 10-year warranty: Delivers long-term durability with springs rated for 30,000 cycles, perfect for high-usage households.

The Ingstrup Garage Doors Lifetime Worry-Free Spring

For those needing more than our two, five and 10-year warranties, our premium solution is our lifetime garage door spring warranty. These springs last dramatically longer than the industry standard of 10,000 cycles, as they are engineered for a minimum of 80,000 cycles — eight times the standard life.

Ingstrup Garage Doors lifetime springs have a large 2 5/8-inch diameter, meaning they are wound in a wider circle compared to standard springs. This diameter allows the spring to produce the necessary lifting force with less stress on the metal wire, making the material less susceptible to the fatigue that generally causes springs to break.

The DuraMaster manufacturing process uses high-quality steel and precise techniques to form and treat the spring. This process results in a fundamentally stronger, more uniform and more resilient piece of steel, increasing its potential life cycle.

Every installation includes a heavy-duty center bearing rated for 400 pounds. This higher rating for the bearing provides strong central support and offers more stability and rigidity to the entire system, reducing wobbles and vibrations from worn bearings that can cause premature failure.

We include our branding on every lifetime spring so you know it’s genuine. Our distinctive OrangeGuard™ safety coating protects springs from corrosion and acts as a high-visibility safety reminder.

Our Ironclad Lifetime Spring Warranty Promise

Think of our lifetime warranty as your complete coverage plan. If your covered spring ever breaks, you will not have to pay for the replacement. Our promise includes:

  • The new replacement spring
  • All associated labor costs
  • The technician’s service call
  • Complete door rebalancing

It applies to residential doors with the original homeowner and original installation address. It doesn’t apply to commercial doors, springs that are moved to another property or future homeowners. Even with a lifetime spring, we recommend an annual professional tuneup to lubricate moving parts, inspect cables and rollers and ensure the entire system remains safe and reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions: Garage Door Warranty for Springs

Here are some common questions and answers to help you learn more about garage door warranty for springs.

Ingstrup offers four levels of spring warranty coverage: a 2-year warranty on 10,000-cycle springs (standard, low-usage doors), a 5-year warranty on 18,000-cycle springs (typical family use), a 10-year warranty on 30,000-cycle springs (high-usage households), and our premium Lifetime Worry-Free Spring warranty on springs rated for a minimum of 80,000 cycles. We’ll help you choose the tier that fits your household’s usage pattern.

One cycle equals one complete open and one complete close of your garage door. Standard springs are rated for 10,000 cycles. For a home that opens the garage 4 times a day, that’s approximately 7 years of life. Higher-cycle springs last proportionally longer. Our warranty tiers correspond directly to these cycle ratings so you get coverage that matches your actual daily usage.

Our lifetime springs are engineered for a minimum of 80,000 cycles, which is eight times the industry-standard 10,000 cycles. They feature a large 2 5/8-inch diameter coil, which produces the necessary lifting force with less stress on the metal. This larger diameter allows the spring to last dramatically longer under normal operating conditions, often outlasting the garage door itself.

Our spring warranties cover normal operational failure due to metal fatigue and cycle wear, which is how virtually all springs fail. Damage caused by accidents, vandalism, or improper DIY modifications would not typically fall under warranty coverage. If you’re unsure whether a situation qualifies, contact us at (517) 305-8459 and our team will walk you through your coverage.

Springs are the single most failure-prone component in any garage door system. When they break, the door becomes inoperable and potentially dangerous. A warranty ensures that if a spring fails within the coverage period, you’re not hit with an unexpected repair bill. Ingstrup’s tiered warranty program means you can choose the level of coverage that fits your household’s usage and budget.

Please contact Ingstrup Garage Doors directly at (517) 305-8459 or via our online contact form for specific questions about warranty transferability. Our team will review the details of your warranty coverage and explain what applies to your situation.
